Wastedump Mobile Application

Here is how the system works for all stakeholders

What problem justifies the wastedump solution?

  • Waste is still regarded as such and not enough value is holistically attached to it.

  • A critical player in the waste value chain (The Waste Generator) is not substantively included in the design of solutions

  • Waste is reactively recovered after immense contamination and that drives up the cost of recovery and effectiveness in doing so

  • Separation at source, the most necessary ingredient of waste management, is minimal

  • Current waste management business models may be inadequate for an importunateness of the problem

  • Waste Data, though improving, is still not adequately classified, comprehensive or precise enough

  • Recycling efforts have not attained the deserved respect and dominance in our collective thoughts

  • Waste collectors are forced to illegally forage landfills and dangerously so to earn a living

How does the Wastedump investment system work?

  • Individual and Institutional users sign up onto our mobile application

  • A user selects to be any of the following

    • A waste generator

    • A waste sorter

    • A waste collector

    • A ward sponsor

    • A waste dealer

    • A waste Recycler

  • The ward purchased details are linked to the sponsor who purchased revenue rights to that ward

  • Waste generators specify in which ward they are located. This is how we know which ward sponsor must be paid each time waste is collected from the specific user.

  • The waste generator submits a collection request through the app at anytime they have enough separated waste to recycle

  • The waste collector responds to the collection request

  • The waste generator and collector will weigh/count and agree on the volume/quantity of waste being collected (mobile scales used)

  • The waste generators account is credited automatically with their share of the value of waste collected

  • The ward sponsor's account is credited automatically with their share of the selling price

  • The waste collector's account is debited with the value of the waste collected

  • When the waste collector sells the waste to the dealer or recycler, his account is credited with the value of the waste

  • Waste sorters are used in special circumstances where the waste generator has large quantities of waste which must be sorted and separated first before a request is be made for a collection

  • The system keeps records of all quantities that move through from cradle to destination

  • Waste generators know their waste history and by class of and this information can be queried at will

  • All users can withdraw the funds on their account at their discretion, subject to minimum withdrawal limits

  • The waste selling price is shared as follows:

    • Waste Generators receive 40% of the selling price of the waste

    • Waste Sorters receive 5% of the waste (where applicable)

    • Waste Collectors receive 40% of the selling price of the waste

    • Ward Sponsors receive 5% of the selling price of the waste

    • Wastedump receives between 10% and 15% of the selling price of the waste

How does success of Wastedump look like?

  • Foster deeper understanding of separating waste at source

  • Reduce waste contamination so that less quantities go to landfills, if at all

  • Improve the range and quantities of waste that is recyclable

  • Reduce general filth in our communities

  • Make waste generators aware of the value of their waste

  • Create a sense of pride in doing what is right

  • Each waste generator will have a waste footprint by category of waste

  • Improve the work circumstances for sorters and collectors

  • Bring respect to the personnel involved in waste value chain

  • Expand the waste generation industry to be a formidable GDP contributor and employer

  • Provide accurate data about the source of waste and its cradle to grave life form

  • Reduce theft through a source of waste identification system

  • Harness waste recovery efforts to the correct spots of catchments

  • Systematically discourage and reduce littering and dumping

  • Conduct periodical community based clean up

  • Develop a path to tertiary education qualifications for waste management career development

  • Allow the environment to live again
